January 16, 2009

Continuing the end-of-the-week roundup of interesting placemaking articles, here is Places That Please for January 16, 2009. I hope you enjoy the articles as much as I did!

1. The Light Lane – If there’s no bike lane where you want to ride your bike, don’t worry! Bring your own!

2. IBM Smart Toll System – This is one of the many ways we can reduce congestion: congestion pricing.

3. Parking Reform – Using the same concept as congestion pricing for roads, we can eliminate the search for an open parking space by charging a market price for each spot.

4. From Dr. Martin Krieger’s blog – This is an interesting article from Dr. Krieger’s blog about university jobs. I have learned alot from his blog.
